autumn newsletter

How is your Autumn going? We are well into the festive season now with clocks turned back, Halloween and Bonfire Night under our belts. And theatres are open (hooray!)

This month we have partnered with The Dog and Bone Gallery to create some special edition red puppets. The Dog and Bone is Brighton’s smallest gallery space, housed in two lovingly restored classic red phone boxes. Our puppets will be there for the whole of November. Head over to Instagram (@puppet_box) to find out about very special GIVEAWAY which will be open until the end of November 2021! The ‘red heads’ will be available for sale once the exhibition is over.

If red is not the colour for you but you would love a puppet in pink, purple or any other colour of the rainbow, we will now be adding bespoke colour puppet commissions to our collection. Please get in touch for details or watch our website for more information coming soon.

The puppet doctor is in the house ….

We’ve said before how much we enjoyed the Zoom connection with our followers during lock down - it allowed us to reach people in the PuppetBox community across the globe. To continue this vibe we are now offering 1-1 tailored Zoom sessions.

1 hour. 1-2-1 Zoom with an expert puppeteer and experienced tutor. Includes follow up notes by email for £35.

We were excited to find out that one of our puppets is going to be making an appearance as Tiny Tim. If you have some PuppetBox puppets, how are you using them? We always love to hear from you. Did you use them in your devised piece? Have you discovered a new workshop exercise with them? Have you got a client, pupil, or student who responded particularly well to a puppet? Let us know - we love hearing from you!

It’s really lovely to see theatres opening up, especially in these darker evenings. You can catch Annie and Sophie in Long Nose Puppet’s ‘The Hug’ at Komedia Brighton and ‘Du Iz Tak?’ our adaptation of Carson Ellis’ beautiful book at Theatre Royal Brighton over Christmas. And from our friends …if you are in Manchester keep an eye out for Touched Theatre’s Little Monster at Z Arts. Filskit Theatre’s brilliant ‘Breaking the Ice’ will be on throughout December at Arts Depot, and ‘Margot’s Magical Winter WonderlandParty’ at Pegasus Theatre in Oxford. And Tiny Light Theatre are bringing ‘Snow’ to Chipping Norton Theatre. Plenty of excuses for festive cheer and fizz.
